Update: Jan 2, 2024 3:00pm ET

Amazon completed the restore process and we have started the restore of the signups.  There are 4 tables to be restored, the biggest of which has completed.  The other 3 should be completed by around 4:00pm ET.  At that time, all signups should be restored.

Update: Jan 2, 2024 11:45am ET

The Amazon engineering team is working hands-on with our restore process now.  Our goal is to get this restore completed soon so we can bring back the data that was removed.

Update: Jan 2, 2024 8:45am ET

Over night we engaged the team from Amazon.  They found that our database has some corrupted tables and that is what caused the very long times for restores.  We are currently working with Amazon to determine the best course of action to restore the signups as quickly as possible.

Original Notice:

This happened because one of our developers mistakenly deleted some tables from the database.  This happened on Jan 1, 2024 at about 8am ET.  At 8:30am we initiated a restore process to get those tables back.  Later in the morning, we initiated two additional restoration processes.  As of 9:30pm all 3 of these processes are still running.

Once any one of the processes is complete, we will finish the restoration of the missing tables.  That should take no more than 30 minutes.  But we need to wait for this initial restore to complete.  Unfortunately, Amazon (our host) does not have a progress indicator for us to know how much time is left.

Our offshore team will monitor this throughout the night and complete the restoration as soon as the initial process concludes.

To be clear, all functions of GroupValet are operational.  The only things that were impacted were signups and declines that happened before the tables were accidentally deleted.  Everything else is working as intended.  And once the restore is complete, those signups and declines done prior to this morning (along with those since the incident) will be back in place.

Many have asked what happens if people sign up again, or what should people be doing?  The best course of action is to be patient.  We realize that is not easy to do.  We are very confident that once this process completes, we will be able to restore all signups.  If someone signs up again - that is ok.  Duplicate signups are allowed and ignored.  So either way is fine.

This issue had nothing to do with the new year - that was merely coincidental.  We will update this FAQ as soon as there is any news.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
